What goes into pricing a bottle of wine?

At a recent elevated wine tasting of winemaker Jayson Woodbridge (Hundred Acre fame) we, For The Love of Wine (Naples, FL) tasted through a lineup of five gorgeous wines from the winemakers secondary labels Summer Dreams and Fortunate Son. All five wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir to Cabernet Sauvignon were really special with obvious standout being the Warrior from Fortunate Son. One of our group members asked a daring but honest question about the bottles over $400 price tag. Why so much money? While the wine label’s representative presented a good case for it’s value in the short amount of time available, the video below goes into much greater detail of what goes into pricing wines not only in California but around the world. It’s not just “marketing” as you may believe.
