Podcast Episode: Naples Wine Tasting Soirées
Pip: For The Love Of Wine — where the sommelier techniques are serious, the blindfolds are literal, and summer in Naples apparently comes with a full calendar of reasons to open something excellent.
Mara: Exceptional Wine Experiences has been busy. Today we're covering private tastings and dinner events across Naples, and a third-anniversary celebration that calls for white attire and a very good address.
Pip: Let's start with the events themselves — the blind tastings, the dinners, the private cellars.
Blind Tastings, Dinners, And The Naples Summer Circuit
Mara: The through-line across these events is structured discovery — not just pouring wine, but building a framework for understanding it. The Ce Soir event on July 18th sets the tone directly: "No labels. No preconceived notions. No shortcuts. Just wine."
Pip: That's the whole philosophy in four sentences. And the structure backs it up — guests use the same deductive approach professional sommeliers use, evaluating appearance, aromas, acidity, texture, structure, and finish to identify grape, region, vintage, quality level, and approximate market value.
Mara: Two back-to-back double-blind tastings, each with its own reveal. The post describes the reveals as "always among the evening's most memorable moments as identities are uncovered and assumptions are put to the test." Dinner from Ce Soir's Riviera Sunset Menu follows.
Pip: The Warren event on July 11th ran a similar format — three wines, blind, one sparkling, one white, one red — and paired it with thirty percent off a contemporary American dinner menu. That one is already sold out, which tells you something about demand.
Mara: It does. And then there's a third event, a much smaller gathering: Event 19 of the Gentlemen Wine Snobs series, held July 8th at a private home in North Naples, capped at nine seats. The theme is a deep-dive vertical of Alpha Omega ERA wines — nine bottles from the ERA series, AO's flagship ultra-premium Cabernet Blend from Napa Valley, all from founding winemaker Jean Hoefliger's tenure.
Pip: Nine seats, a vertical of nine ERA wines, dinner complimentary from the host. That is either an extraordinarily generous evening or a very long one.
Mara: Probably both. The post asks attendees to come prepared to discuss terroir specifics, vinification notes, blend dynamics, and maturation choices — so this is less casual tasting and more structured deep dive. The contrast with the larger public events is worth noting: same community, different intensity levels.
Pip: What connects all three is that the experience is built around the people at the table, not just what's in the glass. The Ce Soir post puts it plainly — the laughter after an ambitious tasting note, the friendships that outlast the final pour.
Mara: That framing carries straight into the anniversary milestone — three years of building exactly that kind of community.
Three Years, White Attire, The Ritz
Pip: The third-anniversary White Party on August 15th at the Lobby Bar of the Ritz-Carlton Naples is where the community celebrates what those evenings have built.
Mara: The post frames it as marking three remarkable vintages since the first gathering in September 2023 — "a community where exceptional wines inspire extraordinary friendships." Two food items, two glasses of wine or craft cocktails, white attire encouraged.
Pip: Three years in, the calendar is full, the events sell out, and the anniversary is at the Ritz. The vision appears to be working.
Mara: From nine-seat private verticals to sold-out restaurant nights to a third-anniversary party — the range is wide, but the intention is consistent.
Pip: More Naples summer, more blind reveals, more reasons to own something white. We'll see you next episode.
